Each lesson is unique, this means, you can join our classes at any time. The teacher will help you improve your grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. All these will be introduced in real situations so you can use the language in your every-day life.
Will I have a course book?
The teacher will screen share the lesson’s materials during the class and can send you the materials via email, or a link in the Zoom chat or Dropbox. You can also buy the course book online though the teacher will also use many other resources and activities to make the lesson interesting and different.
Will I get homework?
Yes, your teacher will set you homework three times a week and will check this with the class at the beginning of each lesson.
Will I have a test or exam?
Yes, at the end of every month, the teacher will give you a ‘progress test’ based on what you have been learning that month, this will then be corrected, and they will give you a report and inform you on how you are doing and ways to improve. This is also a good way for the teacher to then plan and revisit areas of language that may have been difficult for you to understand.
How many students are there in each class?
This depends on the class, generally around seven students, but it can vary from one up to fifteen students.
The teacher will ask each one of you individual questions during the class so everybody is involved, with many activities you will be put into private rooms to work with one other student or a small group to speak together, check answers to an activity or to prepare a mini-presentation or project etc.
The teacher will pop visit each room to see how you are progressing or if you have any questions and then everyone will return to the main class. This way, you will maximize your speaking, these lessons are not lectures like at university, they are very communicative.
Can I keep my camera turned off in the lessons?
Learning English means learning a language, you will need to communicate with your teacher and classmates, so it is important to be able to see their facial expressions and lip movements to understand them better and them you, the teacher also needs to see how you are doing, if you need help or look confused, it also promotes a social environment and relaxes everyone, if the camera is turned off this is all taken away. The teacher also helps improve your pronunciation and so needs to see you in order to help you. English as a foreign language lessons are not lectures like at university where you already understand the language, they are communicative and visual.
If your personal beliefs are contrary to this method, please inform the teacher who will be mindful of putting you in a breakout room with someone of the same gender for speaking activities.
Can I speak with my teacher in private online?
Yes, you can use the ‘private option’ in the Zoom chat on the right and the teacher will answer and open a private room for you to speak with them one-to-one.
